Hooray, motherfucker!

Welcome to my SubStack and to the Galaverse.

I am deeply excited about having a new space in which to create, and ever since I created this account, all of a sudden, every morning I wake up feeling inspired to write. It takes me back to my roots, of my original blog called iCiNG, where I wrote about “crowning your beautiful life”.

Here’s a little screenshot from 2010! Yes, 13 years ago! Although it honestly feels like it was much longer…

When I started iCiNG, back in December of 2006, I didn’t have much of a plan. All I knew was that I wanted to inspire, uplift, and bring joy. I wanted to share what worked for me, and if that worked for other people, then that was delightful. I didn’t want to critique or disparage others, I simply wanted to ride in my own lane… And paint that lane hot pink.

But as the years went by, and I became more successful, and accumulated a team, and the “industry” (whatever that means) became more packed and regimented and predictable, I started to lose my original sparkle, my sense of what turned me on. Instagram, which used to thrill me, has become a same-y yawnfest. TikTok — I am convinced — is designed to melt your brain and make you an obedient consumer. So it feels absolutely fucking delicious to go back to my first love, writing, in a space that is actually designed to celebrate it.

I don’t totally know what this space will be yet, and that’s okay. I don’t want to make any promises about timing, features, content, or anything else. I simply want to create for the love of it, because that is where the true magic is found.
